Biography
Person.
Perry Haines worked across magazine editing, music promotion and the visual presentation of bands. He was an early editor of i-D, contributing to the publication’s development around street style and the creative networks of London’s club scene.
With Terry Jones he co-directed the video for Duran Duran’s Careless Memories. He also managed the Coventry band King: in a 1983 interview, singer Paul King described their partnership as a way to develop the group’s direction through discussion and sustained rehearsal. Haines’s work connected publishing, performance and image-making during the emergence of the New Romantic period.
