Biography
Person.
David Bishop is a New Zealand-born writer, editor and dramatist whose career has moved between journalism, comics, prose fiction, audio drama and screenwriting. After working as a journalist in New Zealand he moved to Britain, joined the Judge Dredd Megazine and became its editor before taking responsibility for 2000 AD during a difficult period in the title’s commercial history.
Bishop has described that editorship as an attempt to stabilise and renew the comic before its eventual acquisition by Rebellion, making him an important custodian of one of Britain’s longest-running science-fiction publications as well as a contributor to its fiction. He later wrote extensively across novels, graphic novels, radio, audio drama and television, while also becoming a historian of 2000 AD through work on its publishing history.
