Catalogue note

i-D No. 277, June 2007, The Out of the Blue Issue, with Björk on the cover photographed by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin. The cover is one of the title's most immediately recognisable late-2000s images: Björk appears in intensely coloured face paint and tactile knitted costume beneath the oversized 'WAAAGHH!' typography. i-D later selected the cover in its own retrospective of notable covers, confirming its place within the magazine's visual history. The rear preserves a period Camper Camaleón advertisement.

Why this object matters

The Inez and Vinoodh Björk image combines performative costume, colour and typography in a distinctive music-fashion collaboration. Retain Gold at 9.1, moderating the former 9.4 rather than treating recognisability as exceptional copy provenance.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 9.1 / 10 · Gold Star.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
