Catalogue note

Factory-sealed Japanese Warner Home Video Ever Green LaserDisc of The Spy Who Loved Me, Lewis Gilbert's 1977 James Bond film starring Roger Moore and Barbara Bach. This NJEL-99201 issue preserves its original Japanese OBI, ¥6,950 retail presentation, factory shrink and Warner/United Artists packaging without ever having been opened. Its archival value lies as much in the untouched Japanese home-video retail state as in the film itself.

Edition details

Japanese Warner Home Video Ever Green issue, catalogue NJEL-99201. Front OBI prints ¥6,950, colour, mono, approximately 125 minutes and CLV. Rear jacket carries JAN 4988135992017 and 1988 package-design copyright.

Condition note

Factory sealed and never opened as supplied by the owner. Original shrink remains on the jacket with visible age-related wrinkling/handling to the plastic; the jacket presents strongly beneath it. The original Japanese OBI is visibly present beneath the factory seal. Discs and any internal insert cannot be visually inspected without destroying the original seal, so playback and internal condition remain unverified.

Attribution / research note

The physical rear jacket credits producer Albert R. Broccoli, director Lewis Gilbert and music by Marvin Hamlisch, and lists Roger Moore, Barbara Bach, Curd Jürgens and Richard Kiel among the cast. The official 007 film archive and BFI independently confirm these principal credits. The rear jacket states that the edition was released by United Artists Corporation and marketed by Warner Bros. (Japan), Inc.

Why this object matters

The sealed Ever Green issue retains original Japanese retail presentation and OBI, providing a material-state comparison with opened Bond editions. The seal supports preservation evidence, not a claim that the unseen discs or inserts have been individually verified.

Evidence limits: Factory-sealed as supplied, with original OBI visibly present beneath the shrink. Release specification is two discs / three recorded sides. Internal discs and any insert are presumed retained by the intact seal but are not independently verified because opening the object would destroy its original sealed state.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.8 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
