Catalogue note

Original double-sided flyer for Pure X Part 8, “Back With A Vengeance,” at The Sanctuary Warehouse, Milton Keynes, on 23 September 1995. Arena 1 advertises Mickey Finn, Grooverider, Jumping Jack Frost, Slipmatt, Randall, Hype, Kenny Ken, Sy, Dr S. Gachet, Ray Keith and G.E. Real; Arena 2 lists Brian Gee, Ron, Darren Jay, Devious D, Andy C, S.S., Roni Size, XT-C, Gappa G and Penfold, with MCs across both rooms. The reverse is unusually explicit about promoter history: after earlier Pure X/Hysteria collaborations, it announces this as a 100% Pure X event with no connection to Hysteria. It also documents two arenas, 80K F2 sound, lasers, video screens, projections, UVs, backdrops, dancers, merchandise, chill-out provision, licensed bar, security, food, car parking and a national ticket network.

Advertised programme: Physical flyer credits Pure X as presenter and prints the full two-arena DJ/MC programme. Exact-event specialist documentation identifies designer RcS. The flyer itself states that Pure X was “back on their own” with “no connection whatsoever with Hysteria”; this is preserved as a printed contemporary claim. Printed ‘BRIAN GEE’ is retained in the object record; specialist recordings of this exact event identify Bryan Gee, supporting that attribution but not silently rewriting the printed form.

Historical context: Pure X had previously co-promoted major events with Hysteria, including Part 7 / The Eighth Wonder of the World on 21 January 1995. The reverse of this flyer explicitly frames Part 8 as Pure X returning independently. Specialist event archives identify this exact 23 September 1995 Sanctuary event as Pure X “Back With A Vengeance,” and surviving commercial/archive recordings document sets from performers including Bryan Gee, DJ Hype, Randall, Mickey Finn, Ray Keith, DJ Ron and Dr S Gachet. This surviving audio materially strengthens the flyer’s value as a pointer into the event’s sound as well as its printed promotion.

Condition note: Strong colour and legibility on both sides. Visible central horizontal fold, light edge and corner wear, scattered surface scuffing/handling marks and small local creases. No major tears or material loss are visible in the supplied photographs.

Event details are drawn from the held object and the qualified catalogue research above. A printed bill establishes an advertised booking, not confirmation that a performer appeared.

Why this object matters

The printed separation from Hysteria gives Pure X Part 8 direct organisational-history value beyond an ordinary Sanctuary bill. Read with the earlier joint Part 7, it documents a specific change of promoter relationship. Retain threshold Gold without promoting the night itself to a broader founding event.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
