Catalogue note

Large fold-out Helter Skelter programme for The Discovery at the Sanctuary Warehouse complex on 1 June 1996. The interior divides the night across the Sanctuary Warehouse, Technodrome and Rollers Warehouse, documenting the coexistence of happy hardcore, jungle/drum & bass and harder techno/gabber-oriented programming within one large-scale rave production. The exterior advertises the next stage of the Helter Skelter Voyage programme and a 100,000 sq ft musical and leisure environment.

Advertised programme: Sanctuary Warehouse: Mixmatt, Hocus, Supreme, Fabio, Slipmatt, Dougal, Grooverider, Ramos, Hixxy, Brisk, Vibes. Technodrome: Jay Prescott, Druid, DJ Madness, Loftgroover, The Producer & Scorpio, Clarkee, Bass Generator, The Music Maker. Rollers Warehouse: DJ Druid, DJ Dance, Mickey Finn, Hype, DJ Rap, Billy Bunter, Vinylgroover, Jumping Jack Frost, DJ SS, Seduction, Kenny Ken.

Historical context: Helter Skelter was operating large multi-arena events at the Sanctuary complex by the mid-1990s. The flyer presents the night as part of a continuing 'Helter Skelter Voyage programme' and explicitly describes three linked warehouses. Surviving audio catalogues independently preserve DJ Hype and Vinylgroover/DJ Druid sets under the title Helter Skelter 'The Discovery' on 1 June 1996. The physical programme is particularly useful for showing hardcore, jungle/drum & bass and harder electronic styles programmed concurrently rather than as isolated scenes.

Condition note: Light handling and fold wear, minor edge/corner wear and small surface marks are visible. The principal fold remains intact, colours are strong, and the extensive programme and ticket information remain highly legible. Assessment is limited to the supplied photographs.

Explore the club-culture timeline to follow advertised dates, places and billed performers across the held flyers.

Event details are drawn from the held object and the qualified catalogue research above. A printed bill establishes an advertised booking, not confirmation that a performer appeared.

Why this object matters

The fully opened Helter Skelter programme preserves three separately presented spaces, venue descriptions, production imagery, merchandise and credited PEZ artwork. Retain threshold Gold as an unusually coherent material account of the complex's organisation, while the venue-area figure and technical specifications remain promotional claims rather than audited measurements.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
