Catalogue note

Original double-sided flyer for Ravescene Party III at 12 Dalston Lane, Hackney, on Saturday 25 April 1992. Specialist archives identify the venue as Four Aces and place the event at the beginning of Ravescene's documented monthly Double Dipped run at the Labrynth complex. The reverse advertises '2 floors of hardcore old & new' with Loftgroover, The Criminal, Devious D, Dance Warlock, Adrian H, Winston and Andre, while the front carries vivid artwork by the Ravescene artist known as Kris. The object is a particularly useful bridge between the publishing infrastructure of Ravescene Magazine, formative hardcore-rave DJ culture and one of London's most historically layered Black-music and rave venues.

Advertised programme: Loftgroover; The Criminal; Devious D; Dance Warlock; Adrian H; Winston; Andre. Printed forms preserved exactly; only securely resolved performers are linked as permanent People authorities.

Graphic-design significance: The object juxtaposes a sparse black field and vivid hand-drawn circular character composition by Kris with an almost purely typographic reverse dominated by oversized white condensed lettering. Ravescene specialist documentation identifies Kris as a teenage in-house artist who developed the Double Dipped visual language, making the design useful evidence of the DIY illustration networks around early rave publishing.

Historical context: Phatmedia identifies the event as Ravescene Party III, 25 April 1992, at Four Aces. A specialist reconstruction of Ravescene's 1992 chronology states that the organisation's monthly Double Dipped events began on 25 April 1992 and were subsequently held at Labrynth. Hackney Museum independently verifies the Four Aces Club at 12 Dalston Lane as a pioneering Black music venue, while later histories document the same building's evolution into the Labrynth rave venue. TMR therefore preserves both Four Aces and Labrynth naming rather than flattening the venue's layered identity.

Production note: Not established from supplied photographs.

Condition note: Very Good appearance from supplied photographs. Black artwork side shows visible light surface scratches/scuffs and handling marks, especially in the large black field, plus minor edge/corner wear. Event-information side remains clean and highly legible with modest edge and handling wear.

Confidence / uncertainty: The exact day/month, hours, address, billing and admission are physically printed. The year 1992, organiser, Four Aces venue identification and Kris design credit are specialist-supported. 'Double Dipped' is documented for the event by specialist archives but is not visibly printed on the photographed event-information side, so it is retained as series/context rather than replacing the physical title 'Ravescene Party III'.
