Catalogue note

Original flyer for P.S. Productions' The Birth of Elysium, an August Bank Holiday 1991 all-dayer at the newly reopened Tiffanys Ballroom in Great Yarmouth. Running from midday Monday until 1am Tuesday, the event billed LTJ Bukem and Carl Cox alongside Doug Osborne, Mike Bolton, PH1, JMJ, Dave Gibbons, Richard R and Jools. Its archival strength is amplified by TMR-000723, the 4 October 1991 State of Elysium flyer, which explicitly states that the first all-nighter followed the success of the earlier Elysium all-dayer. Together the two flyers preserve the formation of a regional rave series from launch to overnight expansion.

Advertised programme: LTJ Bukem; Carl Cox; Doug Osborne; Mike Bolton; PH1; JMJ; Dave Gibbons; Richard R; Jools; plus guests. Printed forms are preserved exactly; only securely resolved performers are linked as permanent People authorities.

Graphic-design significance: Darrell's signed two-colour front uses fluorescent orange and electric blue to construct a split face, clouds, celestial forms and checkerboard distortions. The image is markedly more graphic and economical than many contemporary airbrushed rave flyers, while still using surreal optical imagery to signal altered perception and escape.

Historical context: The flyer announces 'The Birth of Elysium' at the newly reopened Tiffanys Ballroom and describes P.S. Productions recreating the all-dayer atmosphere across Tiffanys I & II. The later 4 October 1991 State of Elysium flyer, already held as TMR-000723, says that the first all-nighter followed the success of 'the Elysium all dayer'. Together, the two objects preserve a direct sequence from launch/all-dayer to first all-nighter within the same Great Yarmouth promotion.

Production note: Not established from supplied photographs.

Condition note: Good+ to Very Good− appearance from supplied photographs. Front colour remains vivid, with light edge/corner wear and surface handling. Reverse shows a pronounced horizontal fold/crease across the middle section together with modest edge/corner wear and light handling, but all printed information remains clear and legible.

Confidence / uncertainty: The title, promoter, 'August Bank Holiday Monday' wording, 12 midday–1am Tuesday hours, venue, admission, billing, newly reopened venue status and Darrell ’91 artwork signature are physically printed. The exact date 26 August 1991 is contextual rather than printed numerically. The phrase 'Birth of Elysium' is treated as strong evidence of launch/origin significance, but TMR does not claim that no earlier informal P.S. Productions use of the word Elysium existed without further evidence.
