Catalogue note

Original double-sided flyer for The Pleasuredome New Year's Eve at Ashby Country Club, Ashby de la Launde, Lincolnshire. Presented by The Active Corporation, the event advertises three themed musical arenas: a Main Arena with Slipmatt, Seduction, Billy Bunter, M-Zone, Fergus and Rush; a Drum & Bass/Jungle programme with DJ Troublesome & MC Dee One, Grief & Strife, DJ Sound and Stomp; and Creme de la Creme presents High Society with Paul Ryman, Paul Kane, Matthew Stephenson and Thomas Tuft. The reverse is especially significant because Pleasuredome explains that, after two New Year's Eve mega-parties at Fantasy Island, it was deliberately returning to “underground roots” with a smaller, more intimate event.

Advertised programme: Main Arena: Slipmatt; Seduction; Billy Bunter; M-Zone; Fergus; Rush; plus a special guest. Drum & Bass / Jungle: DJ Troublesome & MC Dee One; Grief & Strife; DJ Sound; Stomp. MCs: Peta Pan; Storm; Motivator; Oddessy. Creme de la Creme presents High Society: Paul Ryman (Ministry of Sound); Paul Kane (Cream, Stress); Matthew Stephenson; Thomas Tuft.

Graphic-design significance: The design uses a black ground with explosive coral/orange and white splatter imagery, geometric orb motifs and oversized italicised Pleasuredome typography. The reverse turns the splatter into overlapping orange arena circles, visually separating the Main Arena, Drum & Bass/Jungle room and Creme de la Creme / High Society programme. No designer credit is securely visible and none is inferred.

Historical context: The flyer documents The Pleasuredome shifting its New Year's Eve strategy from two preceding Fantasy Island events to a smaller Ashby Country Club party. Three themed musical areas combine hardcore, drum & bass/jungle and a house-oriented Creme de la Creme / High Society room, demonstrating the multi-genre programming of the later rave era. The object also records a heated marquee, a 4am licence-extension application, £21.50 tickets plus booking fee, a regional ticket network and a promoter statement that capacity was limited.

Production note: Full-colour orange/coral, black and white printing on paper/card stock; exact printing process and stock not established.

Condition note: Very Good appearance, ungraded. Light edge/corner wear and surface rubbing/handling marks are visible, with minor local scuffing and small creases. Both sides retain strong colour and excellent legibility; no major tears, heavy folds or paper loss are visible.

Confidence / uncertainty: No year is printed and the exact calendar year remains unresolved; TMR therefore does not infer one from typography, performer careers or telephone codes. The phrase “For the last 2 years Eve’s we have given you the biggest parties in the Country at Fantasy Island” is preserved as promoter testimony. Slipmatt and DJ Seduction match existing TMR authorities. Other performers remain exact printed credits unless independently resolved. Printed billing records advertised appearances, not proof that every performer appeared.
