Catalogue note

Original folded programme for Pure X Entertainments' 'World in Action' at The Q-Club, Birmingham, on 11 December 1993. Billed as 'The Party Against Racism — Time to Take Positive Action', the event combines a major hardcore/jungle line-up with a substantial interior anti-racism statement, two arenas, national ticket outlets and POPZ computer graphics. Northwestern University's McCormick Library independently preserves the exact event flyer in its British Rave Flyers Collection.

Advertised programme: Main arena — 'Followers of Unity on the Wheels of Steel': Jumping Jack Frost, Ratty, Micky 'Hardcore' Finn, Hype, Randall, DJ S.S., Ellis Dee, GE Real, Dougal, Mongoose and Penfold. 'Masters of Unity': MC Magika, MC Chic-a-boo, MC Juice Man and Warren G. Arena 2 — The Rest Chamber: DJ Chico, O-Jay, Steve Hawes, Ad Bates, Barney B, Christian Marner and Imran Santini on saxophone.

Graphic-design significance: POPZ's design combines saturated early-digital photographic manipulation, globe motifs, large dimensional WORLD IN ACTION lettering, international flags and a dense black/red/blue interior typography. The political message is integrated into the visual system rather than treated as a small disclaimer. The reverse carries the explicit credit 'Flier design and computer graphics by POPZ '93', making this an early dated work within TMR's growing POPZ design holdings.

Historical context: The programme's anti-racism text directly references the British National Party's electoral success on London's Isle of Dogs and contemporary racist attacks, situating the rave within a specific late-1993 political climate. Greater London Authority historic-election records preserve the 16 September 1993 Millwall by-election within the 1990–94 London borough by-election series. Northwestern University's McCormick Library separately preserves this exact World Action / Pure X Q-Club flyer in its British Rave Flyers Collection, while later histories of Birmingham club culture identify Pure X and Quest among the important jungle/rave nights at the Q Club.

Production note: Full-colour commercial print on coated paper/card stock with early computer-graphics treatment; exact process and stock weight not established.

Condition note: Very Good appearance, ungraded. Integral central fold with light fold wear, minor edge/corner handling and small isolated surface marks. A few small pin/staple-type punctures are visible near panel margins. Colours remain vivid and all political, event and ticket text is fully legible. No major tears or missing panels visible.

Confidence / uncertainty: The exact date, venue, hours, admission, line-ups, anti-racism text, ticket outlets, security wording and POPZ credit are physically verified. Northwestern independently verifies the same event/date/promoter combination. Political claims and descriptions of racist incidents inside the flyer are preserved as contemporary promoter/editorial testimony; where broader context is supplied, it is separately sourced. GE Real, Mongoose, Penfold, MC Magika, MC Chic-a-boo, MC Juice Man and several Arena 2 names remain printed credits without speculative identity linkage.
