Catalogue note
Original fold-out programme for 2000AD Productions' Desire 95 at the newly promoted United Nations Building / Club UN in Tottenham on 30 September 1995. The all-night two-arena event features Grooverider, Hype, Randall, Micky Finn, Ellis Dee, Swan-E, Jumping Jack Frost, Andy C and others, and doubles as the launch party for S.U.S. Recordings. The programme prints the label's first four releases, extensive venue facilities, a national ticket network and a Design Asylum Ltd ©1995 credit.
Advertised programme: Arena 1: Grooverider, Hype, Randall, Micky Finn & Darren Jay (back to back), Ellis Dee & Swan-E (back to back), Jumping Jack Frost, Andy C, Swift & Zinc, Flapjack. MCs: GQ, Rage, Stevie Hyper D. Arena 2: Matt Maurice, Mellow S, Scott Savonne, Antonio, Lawrence Bagnall, Toni Future.
Graphic-design significance: Design Asylum's 1995 treatment uses a polished metallic 2000AD atom/device suspended in a purple-blue cosmic field, with oversized vertical DESIRE 95 typography and a recurring translucent figure across the interior and reverse. The physically printed Design Asylum Ltd © MCMXCV credit makes this a securely dated example of the studio's mid-1990s rave work, preceding TMR's later 1996 Design Asylum holdings.
Historical context: MixesDB preserves an Andy C set from Desire at Club UN on 30 September 1995, independently confirming the exact event/date and its jungle/drum & bass context. A surviving October 1995 Atmosphere magazine advertisement for S.U.S. Recordings lists Swift & Zinc, Ellis Dee & Swan-E, DJ Tremor and Heavy Unit releases and explicitly tells readers to look out for flyers for the 'massive launch party on 30.9.95'. The flyer therefore documents not just an event but the public launch of the 2000AD-associated S.U.S. label.
Production note: Full-colour commercial print on coated paper/card stock; exact process and stock weight not established.
Condition note: Good to Very Good appearance, ungraded. Original folds remain intact with visible fold whitening and moderate handling along the central and right-side folds. Light edge/corner wear, scattered surface rubbing and a few small scuffs/marks are present, especially around the fold edges and lower front. Colour remains strong and all dense programme, release and ticket text is legible. No major tear or missing panel visible.
Confidence / uncertainty: The exact date, venue/address, hours, two-arena programme, launch-party purpose, first four S.U.S. Recordings releases, venue facilities, ticket pricing, outlet network, Tottenham Hale minibus and Design Asylum credit are physically verified. 'United Nations Building' and later 'Club UN' naming are preserved together without assuming a separate venue. Release information is transcribed from the physical programme and corroborated by a period Atmosphere magazine advertisement.
