Catalogue note

Original UK free VICE Volume 3 Number 9, 'We Hate Your Parents Too', dated to October 2005 through period adverts, UK listings and actual 5 October 2005 public commentary (cover itself prints no date). The confrontational generational polemic attacks perceived baby-boomer power, cultural nostalgia and social/political hypocrisy using characteristically provocative VICE humour and offensive rhetoric. Owner's p143 'The Vice Guide to Killing Your Parents' reproduces John Filo's Pulitzer Prize-winning 1970 Kent State photograph of Mary Ann Vecchio grieving beside Jeffrey Miller, a striking and potentially contentious reuse of documentary images in editorial satire. Original p16 records UK VICE founder/editor/publisher structure and p18 highlights illustrator Hope Gangloff, stylist Ingrid Junker Subon, Scandinavian editor Elin Unnes and photographer Ben Rayner; global corresponding package has independently corroborated Hope Gangloff illustration and Ingrid fashion contributions. Rear American Apparel 'Playtime' photo ad records two early London stores. This local UK Vol 3 No 9 is distinct from global VICE Vol 12 Issue 8 and existing local UK Vol 3 Nos 5/10/11/12.
