Catalogue note
Original UK VICE Volume 5 Number 2, The Clothes Issue, a free 2007 fashion/music magazine. The cover depicts an unidentified model with dark glasses, black tailored outfit and wide belt against a vivid photographic blue studio backdrop with photographic rig supports explicitly left visible. Inside, a key feature 'London’s Aglow: The Sun Shines on the UK (For Once)' by photographed contributor Guy Stephens (styling Nova Dando, assistant Pegah Farahmand) captures the London indie/new-rave moment of Klaxons, Kate Nash, Jack Peñate, New Young Pony Club and Man Like Me just as their music was emerging. The Employees of the Month page identifies influential documentary photographer Gavin Watson, Jiro Bevis, Martynka Wawrzyniak and Nova Dando. Original matching global Volume 14 Issue 2 included fashion work by Watson and Richard Kern (latter in global website; specific UK pages not viewed). An original full-page American Apparel advertisement survives on the back. UK printed volume number remains authoritative over global number; UK month provisionally March, international editorial online Jan 31 2007; no exact duplicate found.
