Catalogue note

i-D No. 285, March 2008, The Who's That Girl? Issue, with Raquel Zimmermann photographed by Emma Summerton. The issue was later selected for i-D's retrospective of Edward Enninful's defining 2000s covers and was also used in i-D's 35-years-of-models retrospective. Beyond the model-focused fashion package, the issue includes a substantial contemporary-art strand, notably a Louise Bourgeois 'Riot Girl' art special produced immediately after her major Tate Modern retrospective, alongside a Donatella Versace feature. The rear cover preserves a period TOM FORD EYEWEAR advertisement.

Why this object matters

The Bourgeois art special and Summerton/Enninful cover make a substantial fashion-art object with a documented retrospective afterlife. Retain outstanding 8.9 but remove Gold; the issue’s own evidence does not support the former 9.3.

Evidence limits: Front and rear covers are present and the main magazine appears externally complete. Full page-by-page collation has not been performed, and the presence or absence of any issue-specific loose insert or supplement has not been independently verified.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.9 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
