Catalogue note
i-D No. 372, The Summer! Issue, Summer 2023, Precious Lee cover. Photographed by Lacey Lennon on the outskirts of Malibu and styled under fashion director Carlos Nazario, the cover places Lee in a vintage Mickey Mouse top against a sun-baked landscape. The exceptionally substantial issue ranges geographically and culturally from Ipanema, British Summer and Miami to Jorja Smith, Tyla, Nia Archives, KAWS, Vivienne Westwood and global casting, making it a broad snapshot of fashion and youth culture immediately before i-D’s subsequent print hiatus.
Why this object matters
A particularly strong late-era i-D issue with an excellent Precious Lee cover, major photographic contributors and unusually broad documentation of 2023 fashion, music, casting and youth culture. It also has retrospective sequence value because No.372 sits immediately before No.373 and the publication pause that preceded No.374’s 2025 relaunch. However, applying TMR’s stricter later-i-D rule, this specific Precious Lee cover is not itself established as a launch/final/anniversary object or singular project of the kind needed for 9+. The issue earns 8.9 on the strength of its contributors, breadth, material scale and sequence position without inflating it because of the masthead.
