Dave Stone

Dave Stone is a British science-fiction writer whose work has repeatedly expanded the worlds surrounding long-running popular characters rather than simply reproducing their central formulas. He wrote for 2000 AD and Judge Dredd: The Megazine, where he created or developed Dredd-world material including Armitage, the hard-boiled Brit-Cit detective series, and contributed to Judge Hershey.

Stone also wrote Judge Dredd and Doctor Who novels and later audio drama, moving comfortably between comics, prose and performance-based forms of licensed fiction. His Dredd work is particularly useful for the way it looks beyond Mega-City One, treating the wider fictional setting as a place with its own institutions, regional identities and genres.
