Catalogue note

Judge Dredd: The Megazine Vol. 2 #35, dated 21 August–3 September 1993, with John Hicklenton’s “Rain of Terror” cover. The issue concludes “Slick Dickens: Dressed to Kill” and “Heavy Metal Dredd: Monkey Beat”, launches the two-part “Hershey & Steel: Degenomancer”, and includes Siku’s painted “Rapid Growth”. Its Hicklenton cover and Heavy Metal Dredd material were later reprinted, giving the issue a useful afterlife beyond its original fortnightly circulation. It extends TMR’s developing run of early-1990s Megazine material while preserving an original newsstand state rather than a later collection.

Writer: John Wagner; Dave Stone; Chris Standley; John Smith

Artist: Xuasus; David Millgate; Charlie Adlard; Siku; John Hicklenton

Cover: John Hicklenton

Edition: Original 1993 first-release newsstand issue

Why this object matters

Hicklenton’s Rain of Terror cover and the first Hershey & Steel story provide strong artistic and serial evidence. Their later republication supports a documented afterlife, not automatic outstanding importance. The misassigned #28 image remains excluded from this object’s evidence.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.2 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
