Catalogue note

Halloween-dated Judge Dredd: The Megazine Vol. 2 #14. The physically printed editorial introduces “Deathsquads” as a brand-new Judge Hershey series and explicitly calls it the very first Hershey solo series. The issue also contains Mechanismo Part 3, Armitage: Influential Circles Part 5 and Alan Grant / Arthur Ranson’s Anderson story “The Witch? Report,” with a signed Arthur Ranson Anderson cover. It extends TMR’s developing original Megazine Vol. 2 sequence with a significant Judge Hershey character-publication milestone.

Writer: John Wagner; Peter Cornwall; Dave Stone; Alan Grant

Artist: Colin MacNeil; Yan Shimony; Charlie Adlard; Arthur Ranson

Cover: Arthur Ranson

Edition: Original UK first-release issue

Why this object matters

The physically documented first Hershey solo serial and Ranson cover make this an outstanding character-development issue. Hershey’s much earlier debut remains distinct. The current evidence supports 8.9 and removal of Gold rather than treating every first solo feature as foundational.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
