Catalogue note
First joint Britannia and Liberty coin design, produced through collaboration between the chief engravers of The Royal Mint and United States Mint.
Condition: Strong bright bullion surfaces with crisp central design detail. No obvious milk spots, fingerprints, heavy toning or major distracting marks visible. Minor apparent surface features/lighting artefacts on the Charles III side cannot be confidently distinguished from slab/reflection effects. Holder structurally sound with normal light exterior handling/scuffing.
Completeness: NGC encapsulated. No separate original capsule/packaging documented.
Mintage / issue limit: 260,500 widely reported for the UK 1oz silver bullion issue. The Royal Mint separately stated that 10,000 were made available for direct online purchase; this 10,000 allocation is not the total issue limit.
Rarity / replaceability: Limited but not scarce in absolute terms at a reported 260,500 issue limit. MS69 is a high but expected modern bullion grade; First Releases adds presentation interest but little true scarcity.
Public provenance: NGC First Releases certification and special UK/US label.
Authentication: Certification number clearly photographed; NGC cert-lookup page not independently retrieved in research session, so online verification remains pending.
Uncertainties: Do not confuse the Royal Mint's 10,000 direct-online allocation with the total issue limit. | Online NGC certification verification pending.
Legacy record ID: Record #002
Why this object matters
The Royal Mint confirms the first joint design by the two mints' chief engravers. That specific design collaboration distinguishes the bullion issue from routine annual types and supports strong importance independently of metal price or encapsulation.
Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.
Uncertainties
- Do not confuse the Royal Mint's 10,000 direct-online allocation with the total issue limit. | Online NGC certification verification pending.
