The main story, “Siege Tactics,” is written by Matt Fraction with art by Matteo Scalera and places Batman against Vandal Savage during the Bad Seeds crisis. The object is especially useful as evidence of the continuing reception and canonisation of Miller's 1986 The Dark Knight Returns: forty years later, Miller's own imagery is circulated again on a contemporary main-line Batman comic within DC's coordinated anniversary programme. The reverse preserves a contemporary DC Studios Supergirl digital-release advertisement.
