Catalogue note
Original first-print 1:50 Frank Miller Hidden Gem variant of the middle chapter of Charles Soule and Steve McNiven's three-issue prestige series Daredevil: Cold Day in Hell. The series presents an ageing Matt Murdock in a grim future and was developed by Soule and McNiven over several years. This copy is especially strong in TMR because Frank Miller—one of the defining creators in Daredevil's publishing history—returns as cover artist on a later-generation 'final stand' interpretation of the character. Issue #2 subsequently received a confirmed second printing, including a Frank Miller sketch 1:25 incentive, making this copy clearly identifiable as an original first-print state.
Writer: Charles Soule; Steve McNiven (story)
Artist: Steve McNiven (pencils/inks); Dean White (colors); VC's Clayton Cowles (letters)
Cover: Frank Miller; Alex Sinclair (colors)
Edition: Cover E / #2E · Frank Miller Hidden Gem Variant · 1:50 retailer incentive · original first printing
Why this object matters
The Miller Hidden Gem cover and original middle chapter form a strong link between generations of Daredevil artwork. The archival/repurposed cover identity needs to remain distinct from newly created narrative art. The 1:50 incentive and reprint history do not justify Gold; reduce to 8.3.
Evidence limits: Complete under the standing TMR rule. No missing issued component is reported; the comic remains enclosed in its Collect Forever Soft Slab, so interior page-by-page completeness and digital-code redemption status are not independently verified.
