Biography
Person.
Garth Ennis is a Northern Irish comics writer whose work has combined black comedy, violence, political scepticism and an unusually persistent interest in friendship, loyalty and the experience of war. He began his professional career in British comics with Crisis, 2000 AD and Judge Dredd: The Megazine, writing Judge Dredd, Strontium Dogs and True Faith before moving into the American market.
There he became internationally known for series including Preacher, Hitman and The Boys, as well as a substantial body of Punisher stories and war comics. Even at its most confrontational, Ennis’s writing often treats genre conventions as a way to test moral choices and personal relationships rather than as ends in themselves.
