Catalogue note

i-D No. 279, The Couples Issue, August 2007, with Daisy Lowe and Will Blondelle photographed kissing by Terry Richardson. The stark 'I LOVE YOU X' cover became one of i-D's retrospectively celebrated images and was later selected by i-D staff among the magazine's notable covers. The issue extends its couples concept through fashion and cultural pairings, including work by Willy Vanderperre, Alasdair McLellan and Ryan McGinley; specialist contents documentation identifies a Lara Stone fashion story photographed by Vanderperre. The rear cover preserves a period Gucci Indy Bag advertisement.

Why this object matters

The I LOVE YOU cover and wider couples concept have a specific place in i-D’s own visual history. The original issue remains outstanding at 8.9, but publisher retrospective celebration alone does not justify Gold at 9.3.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.9 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
