Catalogue note

Fleetway Editions’ Judge Dredd: The Megazine Vol. 2 #28, dated 15–28 May 1993. The issue continues the four-story relaunch begun in #27 and preserves its original free Judge Anderson button badge, with both the cover and badge artwork by Kevin Walker. “Antique and Curious” concludes the first Harke & Burr adventure, while “The Jigsaw Murders”, “A Game of Dolls” and “Childhood’s End” continue. The gift-complete state is particularly useful to TMR because the premium was designed as part of the issue’s Anderson-led visual identity and was intended to be physically separated from many surviving copies.

Writer: John Smith; Igor Goldkind; Si Spencer; Alan Grant

Artist: Xuasus; Kevin Cullen; Dean Ormston; Kevin Walker

Cover: Kevin Walker

Edition: Original UK fortnightly issue with original free Judge Anderson button badge present

Why this object matters

The original Anderson badge and Walker cover preserve a coordinated visual package and the developing Childhood’s End sequence. This is outstanding material-culture evidence, but without an equally consequential independent debut the combination supports 8.9 rather than Gold.

Evidence limits: No new physical inspection or collation was performed. Copy-specific conclusions remain limited to the retained catalogue and accession evidence.

Score and assessment method

Archive Importance: 8.9 / 10.

This is a curatorial judgement, not a measurement accurate to one tenth or a market valuation. Read the explanation and its evidence limits together.
