Event
Hyperbolic — The Christmas Gathering, Friday 23 December 1994, 9pm–7am; Arena One / Arena Two Rhythm Section
Promoter
Hyperbolic (already established TMR promoter/series authority). The 1993 separate flyer has Mr Pickwick Promotions as its promoter, while later independent 1996 evidence names Paul Grant; neither association is asserted as a specifically PRINTED organiser credit on the December 1994 flyer. Original footer thanks all who supported 'us through 94'.
Venue
The Speedway Stadium, King’s Lynn
Location
The Speedway Stadium, King's Lynn, Norfolk as printed. Saddlebow Road appears in separately dated 1993 venue references, but no street or postcode is printed on this December 1994 sheet.
Advertised hours
Friday 23 December 1994, 9pm until Saturday 24 December 7am, as printed twice in small oval labels. No original slot timings.
Original admission / price
£13 admission + £1 booking fee WITH TICKET. Printed pre-event notice warns of an advance-ticket outlet sales change two days before the event; no other ticket price or verified door price.
Designer
Unidentified. A small reproduced ©/name-like mark is visible near the front's lower right corner, seemingly accompanied by a 1994 date, but the lettering cannot be reliably transcribed. Different Hyperbolic flyers were credited to Simon Marriott (1993) and ADG Design & Print (March 1994); neither credit can be transferred to this exact December design.
Format
One self-contained double-sided colour single-sheet rave flyer, portrait pictorial photo/graphic collage front, portrait text-dense reverse with two arenas, agency/shop lists and future-event notice.
Dimensions
Not physically measured. No exact A4 or measured paper/stock claims inferred from photograph, neighbouring Hyperbolic flyers or collector listings.
Orientation
Both faces portrait; front complex close-cropped black/pink smiling/screaming face with raised photographed hands and brightly patterned underlying geometric paper/collage, reverse striking red/blue-green typographic bill.
Original / reproduction
Appears consistent with a contemporaneous 1994 club-promotion flyer with full matching paper date, period agent numbers and signs of use. No forensic first-impression/reprint evidence, original printing run or survivor count.
Edition / variant
Specific Hyperbolic CHRISTMAS GATHERING design for 23 December 1994, psychedelic stencilled face and hands on floral patterned ground, red reverse with Arena 1 / The Rhythm Section, next show advertised Jan 27. Separate from TMR-000725 Hyperbolic 13 Feb 1993 'The Groovers Return' and independently catalogued July/October 1994 Hyperbolic variants.
Condition
Good to Very Good, provisional photographic assessment: noticeable historic crosswise fold, handling creases and minor edge/corner wear, complete and readable.
Completeness
Apparently complete original double-sided single sheet with full pictorial cover, Arena One/Two and MCs, ticket outlets/agents and Christmas message on reverse. No ticket stub, attachment, separate venue map or missing insert evidenced.
Absolute rarity
Unknown: no independently verified original printing number, variant/state census, scarcity count or first-impression authentication.

Catalogue note

Original double-sided Hyperbolic rave flyer for 'The Christmas Gathering' at King's Lynn Speedway Stadium on Friday 23 December 1994, 9pm–7am. A visually startling stencilled screaming face and large photographed hands against patterned red-green graphic collage front a red and teal programme: Slipmatt, Ellis Dee, DJ SS, Dougal, Ratty, Dynamix, Steve K, Freefall and MC Warren G, Skreetch, Storm, Havoc in Arena One; Alphy, Paul Grant, Steve K, Danny D, Pee Wee, Pig Bag in 'The Rhythm Section'. Reverse documents £13+£1 event admission, sound/laser claims, local/national ticket agents and a following January 27 Hyperbolic 'Groovers On Manoeuvres' birthday bash. TMR already holds a separate 1993 Hyperbolic original and Northwestern University catalogs neighbouring July/October 1994 programmes; the independently indexed 1995 Randall recording is from the separate next party. Original design mark cannot securely identify the artist.

Advertised programme: ARENA 1 (8 billed names): SLIPMATT; ELLIS DEE; DJ SS; DOUGAL; RATTY; DYNAMIX; STEVE K; FREEFALL. MCs: WARREN G; SKREETCH; STORM; HAVOC. ARENA 2 / 'THE RHYTHM SECTION' (6 printed positions): ALPHY (MILKY LUNCH); PAUL GRANT; STEVE K; DANNY D; PEE WEE; PIG BAG. 'STEVE K' is printed in BOTH arenas, and must not be silently deduplicated or misinterpreted as proof of two performances. 'ALPHY (MILKY LUNCH)' is the original text. No individual set times or separate Arena 2 MC bill are printed. All are advertised acts, not independently verified performances.

Graphic-design significance: An arresting opposite to Hyperbolic's other 1993 surreal-illustrated programme: oversized photographic hands flank a heavily contrasted woman's or human face rendered with black stencil-like eyes/open mouth, on a deliberately layered red-green-cream collage of angular borders, leaves and restless scribbled textures. The chaotic, psychologically intense front contrasts with a businesslike red poster reverse, turquoise Arena One/Two panels, huge condensed DJ names and exceptionally functional outlet lists. A small lower-edge ©/artist-mark cannot currently be safely read, preventing false attribution to Simon Marriott or ADG.

Historical context: The original flyer advertises Friday 23 December 1994 at King's Lynn Speedway, 9pm–7am, following a clearly documented Hyperbolic programme history: TMR holds an earlier 13 February 1993 programme at the venue; Northwestern University's MS187 preserves separate Hyperbolic dated originals from 15 July and 14 October 1994. DJ Mag's interview-based history independently calls King's Lynn Speedway's Hyperbolic and Perception nights crucial East Anglian rave destinations. This Christmas event prints eight Arena One DJs (Slipmatt, Ellis Dee, DJ SS, Dougal, Ratty, Dynamix, Steve K, Freefall) and MC Warren G, Skreetch, Storm and Havoc, while its Arena Two / Rhythm Section lists Alphy (Milky Lunch), Paul Grant, Steve K, Danny D, Pee Wee and Pig Bag. Steve K appears in both printed areas; don't infer which sets occurred. An original 'Vibe' thank-you points to year-end 1994 community identity. Admission £13 plus £1 ticket booking fee, a nationwide/regional shop/agent network, and a 15K custom sound/laser/Roboscan effects promise are period claims and prices, not independent sound measurements or attendance proof. The flyer advertises 'next Hyperbolic Jan 27th' — Groovers On Manoeuvres, The Birthday Bash Part 2; a later specialty tape archive indexes a Randall mix from that separate 27 Jan 1995 event, NOT this Christmas night. A 1996 external flyer credits Hyperbolic organiser Paul Grant, and a DJ interview references him as promoter, although his exact 1994 connection remains a contextual rather than physical promoter credit.

Production note: Vivid multicolour printed/collage face, red/teal/black reverse with bold display letters, fluorescent-style contrast and tiny period ticket agents. Exact print method, stock, paper weight and edition size not verified.

Condition note: Front print retains vivid colour and full striking facial/hand collage, but there is a conspicuous old horizontal fold across the image, small fine crease marks near its centre, mildly softened upper edge and corners and scattered small rubbed/white marks within textured printing. Reverse retains complete red/teal/black lineups, £13 fee, agent/contact text and lower-next-event banner, with minor paper edge scuffs and light fold-handling. No substantial paper loss, large open tear, detached component or major visible staining. Actual paper weight, hidden repairs, size and stock stability not established by photographs.

Confidence / uncertainty: Date/year, evening hours, two arena headings, 8+6 billed positions, four MCs, price, sound/lighting claims, agency lists, Christmas salute and future Jan 27 notice are all printed on the user's original. Its visual © mark is only partially legible, so no identified designer Person linked. RATTTY printed 'RATTY' is associated with principal DJ Ratty authority, not zero-linked alternative. 'STEVE K' repeats in both areas exactly as printed. 'ALPHY (MILKY LUNCH)', DYNAMIX, FREEFALL, DANNY D, PEE WEE, PIG BAG, MC SKREETCH, STORM and HAVOC are retained as original historic credits without forced identities. Paul Grant in Arena Two may be same as independently attested later Hyperbolic promoter but that is not conclusive. No evidence a tape from this precise 23 December night exists; 1995 Randall audio is for the advertised successor.
