Biography
Person.
Paul Rambali was a British writer, broadcaster and music journalist whose work crossed punk-era music criticism, style journalism, travel writing and cultural reportage. He wrote for the NME during the late 1970s before becoming an editor of The Face during its formative years from 1980 to 1987, helping the magazine move beyond music coverage into a broader account of fashion, politics, photography and international youth culture.
Rambali’s later writing ranged widely: books on France and Brazil, collaborations on food culture, and work on the autobiography of Phoolan Devi, India’s so-called “Bandit Queen.” That range reflects a journalistic curiosity that was central to The Face at its best — treating style not as decoration but as evidence of social change.
